The chanzy is a long-necked lute played by the Tuvans. It comes from China and is most likely related with the Chinese san-xian, which means three strings. The chanzy also has three strings. It is usually distinguished from the doshpuluur by it's kidney or heart-shaped soundbox, which is made of wood. There are holes on either side of the soundbox which are covered by either snake skin or goat skin, depending upon if the instrument was made in China or Tuva.
